Mobile Diesel Technician Level II
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 8am-5pm

Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches and differentials.
- Diagnose, adjust and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, air‑conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches and differentials.
- Inspect, test and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine the accuracy and relevance of information, and use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
- Work effectively with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, or satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
- Document work and upload pictures, parts used and findings observed on Repair Orders (RO) using the company‑issued iOS device and the TRAIT application.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently and manage own daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity and meet or exceed standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary.
- Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and discuss RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA and DOT.
- Maintain the company‑issued service truck, perform safety checks, and conduct daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field. Alternate combinations such as other degrees/certifications beyond HS diploma and 5 years of experience are acceptable.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Maintain a current DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining until expiration; a DOT physical is required if less than 4 months remain.
- Be at least 21 years old due to interstate operating authority regulations.
- Own a valid driver’s license; must hold a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
