General Laborer

From $17.00 per hour.

Job Summary:

We are hiring a dependable General Laborer to support daily operations at a landfill or solid waste transfer station. This is a hands‑on, outdoor position that includes directing traffic, assisting customers, monitoring disposal areas, cleaning the site, and performing general labor and maintenance duties. Candidates should be comfortable working outdoors, around heavy equipment, and in varying weather and environmental conditions.

• Direct vehicles to the appropriate landfill or disposal areas.
• Help maintain safe and organized traffic flow throughout the facility.
• Assist customers with directions and proper disposal procedures.
• Monitor incoming materials and help prevent unauthorized or prohibited waste from being disposed of.
• Pick up trash, paper, tires, batteries, and other debris.
• Clean roads, drainage areas, landfill cells, and work areas.
• Install, move, and maintain traffic signs, barriers, and fencing.
• Perform basic maintenance, painting, pressure washing, and cleanup duties.
• Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, and other basic equipment.
• Inspect work areas and report unsafe conditions.
• Complete basic work reports and required documentation.
• Follow all safety rules and supervisor instructions.
• Perform additional maintenance duties or special projects at the facility.
• Travel to other facilities to assist with maintenance as needed.

• Work outdoors for extended periods in heat, sun, humidity, rain, dust, dirt, odors, and other landfill conditions.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, climb, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Lift and carry up to approximately 45 pounds.
• Work on uneven ground and around vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Safely use hand tools and basic power equipment.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.

This position will work a rotating schedule based on facility needs.

Monday through Friday: 6:30 AM–6:00 PM

Saturday: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

Candidates must be available to work within these operating hours and on Saturdays as scheduled.

• Are you able to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, push, and pull throughout your shift?
• Are you willing and able to work outdoors for extended periods in heat, rain, humidity, dust, dirt, and odors?
• Please briefly describe any experience you have performing general labor, cleanup, traffic direction, customer service, or maintenance work.
• Are you willing to undergo a background check and drug screening, in accordance with applicable laws?

• Valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license at the time of employment.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to provide courteous customer service.
• Previous general labor, sanitation, landfill, construction, landscaping, maintenance, or outdoor work experience is preferred but not required.
