Job Title: INTERVENTION PARA EDUCATOR
Provide targeted small group and individual reading and math interventions aligned to student needs using research-based instructional strategies. Collaborate with teachers and administrators to plan instruction, prepare intervention materials, monitor and document student progress, and support students with additional learning needs while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma (with college-level coursework in education preferred)
- Experience effectively managing K-5 learners (preferred)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, and listening skills)
- Familiarity with the Science of Reading, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Orton-Gillingham, and Bridges in Mathematics (preferred)
- Knowledge of, or willingness to be trained in, scientifically-based reading and math interventions
- Special expertise in quality reading and math instruction (preferred)
- Special expertise in infusing reading and math strategies into content area instruction (preferred)
- Experience working with students who have additional learning needs (preferred)
- Experience effectively managing K-5 learners (preferred)
- Knowledge of elementary-level curriculum (preferred)
Essential Functions:
- Ability to provide small group instruction based on the needs determined collaboratively with the classroom teacher and building administrator
- Ability to work independently and self-identify student needs
- Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators
- Ability to track and analyze multiple data sources to drive instruction
- Willingness to provide research-based interventions to small group/individual student(s)
- Ability to plan and prepare materials and lessons for interventions
- Willingness and ability to conduct and document pre/post assessments and ongoing progress monitoring
- Willingness and ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance
- Willingness and ability to complete other duties as assigned by the principal, including recess duty
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:45 a.m.
- 3:10 p.m., 29.5 hours per week
Location: Lakeside Elementary School
Rate: Support Staff Contract, Para educator Classification, Category III
Start Date: August 2026
