The Assistant Manager is responsible for conducting comprehensive research and benchmarking of entry requirements to ensure Taylor’s academic programmes remain competitive, rigorous, and aligned with regulatory standards. This role bridges market intelligence with institutional policy, providing data‑driven recommendations to the relevant committees to enhance student quality, institutional prestige, and compliance. The Assistant Manager will monitor the Student Intake Standards to meet the institution’s quality standards.
The Assistant Manager is also responsible for coordinating the implementation and annual review of the institution’s Student Intake Standards. In addition, the Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting the Manager in institutional governance related matters as well as institutional audit exercises.
1. Admissions Governance & Policy Management
- Oversee the evaluation and processing of non‑standard admission cases, ensuring consistent application of policies while maintaining meticulous records for audit trails.
- Lead the systematic review and update of the Student Intake Standards (SIS) to ensure they reflect current institutional objectives and academic rigor.
- Direct the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) of the SIS by analysing the correlation between entry qualifications and subsequent use of the standards.
- Lead comprehensive market benchmarking and research, conducting comparative studies of entry requirements against local and global competitors to safeguard the institution’s standing as a world‑class university.
- Identify global trends and emerging qualifications to ensure the institution’s admission criteria remain competitive and inclusive of diverse educational backgrounds.
- Monitor and analyse updates to regulatory and statutory requirements from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
- Serve as a primary point of liaison for relevant regulatory authorities and foreign embassies regarding verification and equivalence of entry qualifications.
- Ensure all programme admission criteria meet or exceed national statutory requirements and international quality standards.
- Synthesise research findings into formal proposal papers for the Quality Assurance and Enhancement Committee (QAEC) and Senate, facilitating the approval of new or amended entry requirements.
- Collaborate with the Manager to translate data‑driven insights into institutional policies that support Taylor’s 2025–2035 Strategic Plan.
- Ensure audit readiness by preparing robust evidentiary documentation and research‑backed justifications for all entry standards during institutional audit exercises.
- Lead the transition of Student Intake Standards (SIS) and admission protocols into digital frameworks, ensuring that quality assurance workflows are automated and scalable.
- Data Systems Management:
Oversee the integrity of digital databases related to non‑standard admissions and entry requirements, leveraging technological tools to improve data retrieval and reporting accuracy. - Process Optimization:
Identify and implement innovative technological solutions to streamline the evaluation of complex, non‑standard applications, reducing manual turnaround time while maintaining rigorous standards.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Management to support the evolving needs of the Office of Registrar and the wider institution.
- Relevant Bachelor degree in Education, Quality Management, Business Administration, Organizational Development or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- At least five (5) years of related working experience.
- Possess a good knowledge of the higher education industry including the relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
