Job Description
Accurate estimating of assigned projects.
- Efficient coordination of field and office activities, including job scheduling.
- Company liaison with owners, prime contractor representatives, and engineers.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination with Midstate trucking division for equipment mobilization.
- Carry out all duties described in the job description in an efficient manner.
- Study and understand contract documents before and after estimating to identify ambiguities or potential cost issues.
- Estimate accurately each job; review estimates with management for analysis and corrections.
- Purchase major materials and subcontract work at competitive prices to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and update job progress schedules at pre‑bid, post‑award, and other required stages in coordination with the Job Superintendent.
- Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work per the progress schedule, adjusting as needed for changes.
- Assist the Job Superintendent in resolving design and detail problems with owners, prime contractors, suppliers, and inspectors.
- Attend preconstruction and job meetings when required.
- Prepare cost breakdowns; review with the Job Superintendent, obtain management approval before release to accounting, and adjust for changes.
- Analyze job cost reports to recommend actions on overruns.
- Prepare invoicing data and submit to the Accounting Department in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper contract files.
- Supervise preparation of bid and job correspondence.
- Assist and cooperate with Job Superintendents to maintain good subcontractor relations and coordinate field–office activities.
- Attend seminars on estimating, management, and construction techniques as requested by management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to work required hours to complete the job on time.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Thorough knowledge and background in the construction industry.
- Thorough knowledge and background in estimating the types of jobs normally performed by the company; proficiency in Excel-based estimating.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity surveys and estimate costs of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work, ensuring all areas are accounted for before submission.
- Integrity, loyalty, and honesty; no disclosure of confidential company information to outside parties.
- Professional interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with owners, inspectors, prime contractors, and others directly involved in projects.
- Ability to partner with the Midstate trucking division to coordinate equipment mobilizations amid schedule changes.
