We’re partnering with a school district in Dakota County, Minnesota to hire a dedicated School Counselor for a short-term, full-time assignment from August 2026 through November 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support high school students by promoting academic achievement, career readiness, social-emotional development, and overall student well‑being. Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the School Counselor will help create an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment while implementing a comprehensive school counseling program designed to support the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.
Position Details:- Position: High School Counselor
- Location: Onsite in Dakota County, MN
- Schedule: Full-Time, Monday-Friday
- Assignment Type: Short-Term Assignment
- Assignment Dates: August 2026 - November 2026
- Grade Levels: High School
- Implement a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students' academic, career, and social-emotional development.
- Provide individual and small-group counseling services to address student needs and promote overall well‑being.
- Support students with academic planning, graduation requirements, college readiness, career exploration, and postsecondary planning.
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons focused on social-emotional learning, self-advocacy, conflict resolution, and life skills.
- Utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to promote equitable access and student success for all learners.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and support staff to create inclusive and culturally responsive learning environments.
- Participate in student support, intervention, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Assist students in developing coping skills, problem-solving strategies, goal-setting techniques, and positive decision‑making habits.
- Connect students and families with school and community resources as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field
- Valid Minnesota School Counselor license
- Experience working with secondary or high school students preferred
- Knowledge of college and career readiness planning, student support services, and social-emotional learning practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship‑building skills
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams
