- As a Teacher Assistant/Family Advocate, you'll divide your time between supporting the classroom and partnering with families to help children thrive.
- Support teachers in creating a safe, engaging classroom that promotes children's learning and school readiness.
- Assist with lesson preparation, classroom organization, and daily learning activities.
- Build trusting relationships with families and support parents as their child's first and most important teacher.
- Conduct home visits and share information about child development, family services, and program resources.
- Connect families with community resources and assist them in meeting health, dental, and program requirements.
- Support recruitment, outreach, enrollment, and re-enrollment efforts.
- Partner with families to identify strengths, set goals, and achieve success through the Family Partnership process.
- Monitor attendance, address barriers to participation, and help families stay engaged in the program.
- If you have a high school diploma or GED, you’ll need to earn your CDA credential or state-awarded certificate during your first two years with us. We’ll pay for it and help you do it. You will also need to obtain a Family Service Credential within 18 months of hire. We'll support you through the process too.
- If you have one of these certifications, an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, you’re already qualified.
- Preferred experience working with children ages birth – 5 years old.
- You must have a strong commitment to BI-CAP’s values of collaboration, innovation and compassion for those we serve.
- Applicants must pass a DHS Background Study and meet DHS & MN Rule 3 licensing requirements.

- Full time, 40 hours/week, school year (mid August- through May). CDA/Family Credential:$17.23- $24.12/hr without CDA. $/hr;
With 2 year degree or above: $/hr.depending on qualifications, with benefits during the school year: medical, dental, vision, company paid life/add, retreatplan, holiday pay and paid time off. Retention bonus eligible. - Schedule:
M-Th, 9 hours per day with 4 hrs on Friday. Schedules approved by management based on program need.
