Relay Technician; MN

Description

Excel Engineering, Inc. is seeking a team-oriented, highly motivated individual for a Full-Time Relay Technician position. This is for our power utility client in the Twin Cities, MN area. The coverage area would be west of the Twin Cities metro to eastern North and South Dakota.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversees substation testing inspection projects
• Reviews wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents in advance of projects
• Serves as on-site subject matter expert.
• Manages quality and safety oversight of system protection testing contractors to ensure adherence to client’s processes, procedures, and standards.
• Identifies issues and abnormal operating conditions on substation sites

Requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a relay technician
• Strong Understanding of protection relays and high voltage protection.
• Working knowledge of high voltage potential transformers, current transformers, high voltage breakers, and SCADA systems.
• Experience performing routine troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Education

• Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar
