- Lead cross‑functional initiatives to develop and deploy solventless hotmelt adhesive and coating technology solutions at 3M global manufacturing locations.
- Partner with team members across business groups, divisions, corporate labs, and Enterprise Supply Chain to build and execute project plans aligned with strategic priorities.
- Develop or adapt technologies to enable manufacturing improvements, process optimizations, and new product or process scale‑up projects within the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
- Design and execute lab and plant experiments to deepen understanding of material formulations, process conditions, equipment design and their impact on product performance.
- Travel to internal manufacturing, vendor or customer locations as needed to provide technical consultation, troubleshoot issues, share knowledge or deliver training.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of the Polymer Processing and Coating technology platform strategies.
- Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start).
- Or High School Diploma/GED (completed and verified prior to start) and a minimum of seven (7) years of hands‑on engineering and/or manufacturing experience.
- And at least two (2) years of experience in process development, product development, engineering and/or manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment.
- Additional qualifications that could help you succeed:
- Four (4) or more years of experience in extrusion, film and/or adhesive development in a non‑academic setting.
- Experience with technology transfer, process scale‑up and/or new product commercialization in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with polymer and/or adhesive formulation and related materials characterization and performance testing techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership, project management and influencing skills to work with cross‑functional team members and clients from multiple divisions and geographic locations.
- Strong analytical and statistical analysis skills.
- Ability to prioritize, multi‑task and remain flexible to changes.
- Ability to respond to new information and inputs with a sense of urgency.
- On‑site working model: must work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
- Travel: up to 25% (domestic or international).
- Relocation may be authorized.
