Test Engineering Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Test Engineering Technician to support validation and verification activities within our engineering team. This role will have a primary focus on the evaluation and testing of rechargeable battery packs and battery charging systems, including electrical performance, safety, environmental behavior, durability, and lifecycle characteristics. The technician will execute and manage standardized internal test suites, record and organize test measurements, and generate structured engineering documentation to support engineering decisions and supplier alignment.
The technician may also be cross-trained to support testing of a broader range of electronic hardware products as business needs evolve.
Key Responsibilities
Execute standardized internal test suites to support product development and validation.
Set up test configurations and operate laboratory test equipment to capture electrical, thermal, and functional measurements.
Execute electrical, thermal, and mechanical evaluations to characterize hardware behavior.
Record and organize test measurements and observations, compiling them into structured engineering documentation for Engineering and Product Management review.
Maintain traceability between test data, test conditions, hardware configurations, and reported results.
Support safe handling and testing of hardware in accordance with engineering lab procedures and best practices.
Assist engineering teams with troubleshooting, test setup refinement, and validation of design changes.
Collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and Manufacturing partners to support development activities.
Create product-focused technical content to support release documentation deliverables.
Review technical documentation and media for technical accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the evaluated hardware.
Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, fixtures, documentation, and laboratory workflows.
Minimum Education Required
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technical discipline.
Minimum Experience Required
Hands-on experience supporting engineering test and evaluation of electronic and electrical hardware products.
Experience evaluating batteries and chargers using electrical, thermal, and functional test methods.
Familiarity with rechargeable battery chemistries and battery charging systems, including applicable industry standards, regulations, and safety considerations.
Proficiency setting up and operating laboratory test equipment (e.g. DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, temperature probes, or equivalent tools).
Experience executing test plans and standardized test suites in a development or engineering environment.
Strong understanding of electrical principles, circuits, and components.
Strong troubleshooting skills with attention to detail and sound technical judgment.
Experience contributing to technical documentation such as test reports, user guides, or product information.
Ability to accurately record, organize, and present test measurements in structured engineering documentation.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with engineering and cross-functional teams.
