Overview

The Principal Financial Analyst is a key financial leader supporting a portfolio of strategic GO & SC initiatives totaling approximately $0.7B. The role drives financial planning, forecasting, governance, and performance management from project inception through closeout, ensuring projects achieve targeted business outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with strategic project managers to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks and opportunities; quantify business impacts and drive projects to successful execution and value realization.
  • Influence key business decisions by delivering actionable financial insights, developing robust business cases, validating savings opportunities, and ensuring alignment with financial policies and objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that streamline reporting, enhance financial transparency, and increase focus on value‑creating activities across the project portfolio.
  • Own and execute month‑end financial processes, including WBS and cost center management, expense reclassifications, financial reconciliations, consolidation activities, and SAP/Planisware data integrity reviews.
  • Drive annual strategic planning, capital prioritization, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking to support organizational goals and investment decisions.
  • Develop and deliver clear, compelling financial presentations and executive‑level insights for Monthly Financial Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, and program governance forums.
  • Collaborate across Manufacturing Platforms, Enterprise Operations FP&A, and Strategy & Technology teams to ensure financial alignment, accountability, and execution of approximately $700M in strategic initiatives.
  • Establish disciplined governance, standard reporting practices, and performance metrics that improve predictability, accountability, and transparency across the project portfolio.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience with a bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort with ambiguity and change management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; strong financial modeling, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience navigating and working within a matrix organization.
  • Experience with Medtronic financial systems including SAP, One Stream, and Planisware Cost Accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid accounting (GAAP) and business management foundation.
  • Knowledge of Operations and/or accounting for Operations preferred.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. §214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
