Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician is responsible for creating, maintaining, and auditing manufacturing master data within Global Shop Solutions (GSS), including routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), labor standards, work centers, and related production information. This role translates approved engineering and manufacturing requirements into accurate ERP data and works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Production to support accurate and timely job release.
Manufacturing Engineers retain ownership of technical manufacturing decisions; the Manufacturing Engineering Technician owns the accurate execution, maintenance, and integrity of the approved data in GSS.
Responsibilities:
· Create, enter, and maintain manufacturing routings in GSS based on approved engineering and manufacturing requirements, including operation sequence, work centers, setup standards, and run standards.
· Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in GSS based on released drawings, specifications, and approved engineering documentation.
· Process approved Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), deviations, and manufacturing process changes by updating affected routings, BOMs, and manufacturing master data for current and future orders.
· Verify released jobs contain the correct BOM, routing, revision level, work centers, outside processing requirements, and required manufacturing documentation prior to production release.
· Audit existing routings, BOMs, and related master data for accuracy and correct identified discrepancies after required technical approval.
· Maintain consistent GSS standards and conventions for operation descriptions, work centers, labor standards, item setup, and routing structure.
· Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, and Production when information required to create or maintain manufacturing data is incomplete or conflicting.
· Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOMs, routings, work instructions, and actual shop-floor processes and escalates them for resolution before making unapproved technical changes.
· Support new product introductions and product revisions by ensuring approved manufacturing data is complete and ready before work is released to the production floor.
· Maintain records and metrics related to routing and BOM accuracy, corrections, data integrity, and release readiness.
· Support continuous improvement of ERP and manufacturing master-data processes and recommend opportunities to improve accuracy, consistency, and administrative efficiency.
· Always operates in compliance with safety and quality standards and is committed to the organization’s quality policy and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
· Associate degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant manufacturing experience may be considered.
· One to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience maintaining ERP manufacturing master data, routings, or BOMs is preferred.
· Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, work instructions, and revision-controlled documentation.
· Strong attention to detail, organization, data accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple revisions, priorities, and deadlines.
· Proficient with ERP systems (preferably Global Shop Solutions), Microsoft Excel, and the Microsoft Office suite; experience viewing CAD models or drawings is…
