Maintenance Technician - Highway Dept DescriptionHIGHWAY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
The Norman County Highway Department is accepting applications for a Highway Maintenance Technician. Experience in road construction and maintenance work involving the operation of various types of motorized equipment is preferred. Must possess a valid Class A CDL license or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Wage is based on experience.
Job DescriptionUnder general supervision, performs manual labor and operates motorized equipment used in highway and public works, maintenance, construction and does related work as required.
Examples of Duties- Operates equipment such as tandem axle trucks, truck trailer units, tractors and dozers in a variety of construction, maintenance, resurfacing and repair operations.
- Assists in general equipment maintenance, performing minor repairs; may serve as relief for other equipment operators; may be assigned to other maintenance and construction tasks when equipment is not in use, including any and all tasks required in highway and public works, maintenance and construction work.
- Some work duties are performed during extreme or adverse weather conditions.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. Summer hours are Monday through Thursday 7-5:30pm and winter hours are Monday through Friday 7-3:30pm. Some evening and weekend hours as needed and occasional overtime is required.
Benefits include: A health and ancillary insurance package is offered with an employer contribution as well as enrollment in PERA, 12 paid holidays, Vacation Pay and Sick Leave/ESST.
Starting pay range for position is $22.39 -$28.82.
