Work Schedule: 4–10 hour shifts – 7:00–5:30 with minimal to no weekend call

Must live within 30 minutes of hospital.

Lakeway is located about 25 miles west of downtown Austin. The community offers scenic views and recreational amenities.

Hospital Overview

Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is a private, non‑profit, 131‑bed full‑service hospital. It is a certified primary stroke center and chest pain center and has achieved Magnet recognition for nursing excellence.

Procedure Suites
  • 3 procedure suites with 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips) and a Siemens biplane system.
  • 12 private pre/post holding rooms.
Procedures
  • Cardiology: left heart catheterization, PFO closure, STEMI/MI, mechanical device insertions, lithotripsy, thrombectomy, renal stenting, peripheral vascular, PCI.
  • Interventional radiology: kyphoplasty, port‑a‑cath placements, biopsies, cryoablations, uterine artery embolization, prostate embolization, GI bleed embolization, thrombectomy, percutaneous drain placement, paracentesis, thoracentesis, fistulograms.
  • Electrophysiology: pacemaker, ablation, cryo‑ablation, pulse field ablation.

Spacious procedure rooms support the circulating nurse, scrub tech, and physician. A 3:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio is used for pre/post care, and techs rotate modalities and procedures.

Job Summary

The Cath Lab Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. The RN conducts accurate assessments, develops individualized care plans, delegates interventions, and supports patient transition through healthcare while preventing complications and delays.

  • Clinical judgement: conduct assessments, identify and prioritize patient needs, and evaluate care plans.
  • Clinical inquiry: evaluate nursing practice quality and support evidence‑based practice changes.
  • Caring practices: create a safe therapeutic environment, manage pain, and prevent unnecessary suffering.
  • Cultural sensitivity: incorporate patient and family cultural values into care plans.
  • Advocacy and moral agency: protect confidentiality, autonomy, dignity, and rights of patients and families.
  • Facilitation of learning: provide education throughout care and assess learning needs.
  • Partnership: collaborate with team members and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Systems thinking: use resources for problem‑solving and plan efficient patient care.
  • Professionalism: participate in governance, pursue professional growth, and contribute to the community.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate of an accredited nursing program or 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Certification/License: BLS and RN license.
  • ACLS:
    Must obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
