Temporary Seasonal Visitor Services Tech – James M. Robb Colorado River State Park
Position at Colorado Department of Natural Resources. Temporary (9 months or less) – $17.00/hour plus increase based on experience. Employment starts March–May through September–October. Position up to 40 hours per week. Housing not provided.
Job DescriptionCustomer service based position at visitor center greeting visitors or working in specialized duties at the park. Daily interaction with park visitors requires effective communication and public relations skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide information on the park and surrounding area to visitors
- Utilize a Point of Sale System to sell passes, permits, camping registrations, fishing/hunting license, and gift certificates
- Answer telephones and take detailed messages
- Accurately collect revenue, complete shift report and shift box at end of each shift
- Prepare campground reservation forms and documents (Island Acres and Fruita)
- Document and report visitor complaints
- Perform cleaning and light maintenance duties of interior offices, restrooms, kitchen, watering plants, and litter pick up
- Assist with special events or programs within the park
- Prioritize job duties and multi‑tasking
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts
- Previous experience handling money and working with the public is helpful but not required
- May need to undergo criminal background investigation
- Possess strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work with little supervision
- May be required to work the entrance station for an 8 or 10 hour shift
- May not be able to leave for lunch
