Salary: $51,774 – $99,673 annually (DOE)
This position is scheduled to begin August 2026. The successful candidate will teach a 5/5 course load, with the majority of those being college composition. The successful candidate will also hold academic support hours, mentor students, and contribute to the academic mission of the Department by engaging in professional growth activities, collaborating with colleagues, and serving on Department, College, and District committees.
We seek applicants with experience and training in Rhetoric and Composition scholarship and pedagogy. The ideal candidate will be able to speak to how their instructional practices leverage community college students’ strengths and address their curricular and pedagogical needs. The candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student‑centered approaches in both instruction and service.
- Instruct a diverse population of students in classroom settings.
- Develop written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assess student knowledge of subject matter and prepare and grade projects; maintain academic support hours to assist and advise students.
- Engage in the academic life of the college by participating in district‑wide and campus committees and activities.
- Develop and enhance knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and promote scholarship of teaching and learning by attending conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.
Master’s degree or higher with 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field or a Master’s degree or higher in the teaching field.
Desired Qualifications- Master's or PhD in English, Literature, Composition/Rhetoric, TESOL or related field.
- Three years (12 sections) of experience teaching college‑level composition.
- Demonstrated commitment to leveraging the experiences and strengths of community college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to department, college, and disciplinary service.
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
