This position provides paid, hands-on learning in a licensed early childhood program while completing related college coursework toward an Early Childhood Education certificate or degree.
The apprentice works under the supervision of qualified teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children while progressing through apprenticeship competencies and academic requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist lead teachers with implementing daily classroom activities.
- Support children's cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language development.
- Build positive relationships with children and families.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment.
- Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, and sanitation.
- Supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, meal times, and transitions.
- Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, and hygiene according to licensing regulations.
- Observe and document children's development as directed.
- Participate in lesson preparation and classroom planning.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, FERPA, and Colorado licensing requirements.
- Follow all Starpoint and SPIN policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must be currently enrolled in approved Early Childhood Education certificate or degree program.
- Ability to obtain and maintain all Colorado Early Childhood licensing requirements.
- Ability to pass required criminal background checks.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
- Frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
- Sit on the floor and interact with children.
- Bend, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
- Willingness to learn and accept coaching.
- Positive attitude and commitment to child development.
