JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager‑Technical Services will be responsible for leading and training the Technical Services engineering team. Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance to Engineers. Ensure engineer projects are completed in accordance with company and industry standards as well as state, local, and federal regulations. Works with the Director of Technical Services to devise methods to accomplish team goals. Assist the team with individualized personal development goals and training.
Manage and balance the engineering team's workload. Provides guidance to the team in supporting their efforts. Works with many other departments including but not limited to Field Operations, Project Management, Regulatory, Asset Integrity, Commercial, Scheduling, Land, and Procurement to be a technical resource in support of complex projects, operational, maintenance, and engineering issues or questions. Be responsible for the maintenance of company engineering standards, construction standards and OM procedures dealing with the design, operation and maintenance of company assets as required.
PURPOSE
The Manager‑Technical Services will lead the Technical Services engineering team, offering guidance and ensuring timely project completion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONBachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a closely related discipline.
EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE- 10+ years of relevant industry experience with proven success in cross‑functional team collaboration.
- Experience in project management, engineering, design and construction, and commissioning of pipeline, compressor, pump station, and meter station for natural gas, CO2, and crude oil pipeline and facilities.
- Knowledge of hydrostatic pressure testing on natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission pipelines/facilities including test documentation.
- Knowledge of natural gas, CO2 and crude oil pipeline and facility design, construction, commissioning, and operation.
- Knowledge of natural gas, CO2 and crude oil pipeline and facility operation.
- Knowledge and experience with stress engineering calculations.
- Knowledge and experience with OPP/PSV application, sizing, selection and review.
- Knowledge of API 1104 and ASME Section IX regarding development, qualification and use of welding procedures in the natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission industry.
- Knowledge of welder qualification per API 1104 and ASME Section IX.
- Knowledge of new fabrication and in‑service welding.
- Knowledge of equipment used in the natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission industry.
- Knowledge of materials used in the natural gas, oil, or CO2 transmission industry and familiarity with ASME, API and ASTM material specifications.
- Knowledge of ROW, EHS and regulatory clearances for energy projects.
- Experience with defect assessment and repair.
- Experience in investigation and root‑cause determination of pipeline and equipment failures.
- Application experience with industry standards such as DOT 49 CFR 192/ASME B31.8, DOT 49 CFR 195/ASME B31.4, API 520, API 526, B31.3, ASME Section VIII, Section IX, Section XIII, ASME B16 standards, ANSI, NACE, NEC, MSS-SP-44, SP-75, SP-97, etc.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Familiarity with weld inspection, visual and NDE such as RT, MT, UT, and PT.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and solid understanding of engineering concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams, including flow charts, cause/effect diagrams, and P&IDs.
- Ability to read and interpret basic GIS information and maps and above ground facilities civil, mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Teamwork, ability to follow direction, adhere to schedules, focus on details, and follow work rules.
- Organizational and prioritization skills to manage simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.
