SCADA Engineer

Job Overview

Job Summary: As a SCADA Engineer at Primoris Services Corporation, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems across various infrastructure projects. This role involves ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of critical control systems for our diverse energy and utilities clients.

• Design, develop, configure, and commission SCADA systems, including RTUs, PLCs, HMIs, and communication networks, in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Develop and implement control logic, human-machine interface (HMI) screens, and data historians for effective system monitoring and operation.
• Perform system integration, testing, and troubleshooting of SCADA components to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, and field personnel to define system requirements and ensure seamless project execution.
• Conduct site visits for system installation, commissioning, and ongoing support.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including system architecture, network diagrams, configuration files, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance staff on SCADA system functionality.
• Participate in system upgrades, modifications, and cybersecurity initiatives to enhance system reliability and security.
• Stay abreast of emerging SCADA technologies, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to system alarms and anomalies, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in SCADA system design, implementation, and maintenance, preferably within the energy, utility, or heavy industrial sectors.
• Proficiency with various SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, Rockwell Factory Talk, GE iFIX, Siemens WinCC).
• Strong understanding of PLC programming (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and experience with major PLC brands (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Modicon).
• Experience with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
• Knowledge of network architectures and cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control narratives.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced project environment.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
