Position SummaryThe Plumbing Designer/Engineer will be responsible for the design, coordination, and documentation of plumbing and fire protection systems for a variety of building types. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, experience working within multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design plumbing systems including domestic water, sanitary waste and vent, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty piping systems
- Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents
- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, and external consultants
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and construction administration activities
- Perform code analysis and ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes
- Support BIM/Revit modeling and interdisciplinary coordination efforts
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction phases
- Assist with project scheduling, budgeting, and technical quality control
- Mentor junior engineers and designers as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in plumbing engineering within an A/E consulting environment
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD required
- Familiarity with hydraulic calculation software and plumbing sizing programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively within project teams
- Healthcare, laboratory, life sciences, higher education, or commercial high‑rise project experience
- LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience
- Experience coordinating with contractors and commissioning teams
- Familiarity with BIM 360 and cloud‑based project collaboration tools
- $80,000–$115,000
