Primary Purpose

Responsible for the acquisition of air permits to support new projects and on‑going operations of applicable Tallgrass Energy facilities. The Sr. Air Compliance Specialist will act as a first‑line resource for the Air Compliance Specialist position.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years direct and active work experience with air permitting and compliance in the oil and gas industry.
  • Working knowledge of the Clean Air Act and State regulations where Tallgrass assets are operated.
  • Previous experience in successfully interacting with Federal, State and local agency officials related to air permitting authorizations.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations
  • Active State registered Professional Engineering license.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

Working Conditions
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • May be required to carry a cell phone and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.
  • Required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report for certain positions, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with other air permitting professionals to provide system-wide support to operations to ensure and maintain compliance with applicable air requirements.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, budget and manage timely execution of air permits and related requirements accurately.
  • Complete emission calculations and inventories.
  • Conduct State and Federal regulatory applicability analyses.
  • Frequently interact with regulatory agencies, consultants and operations personnel.
  • Conduct on-site verification and have knowledge of oil and gas related equipment.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with engineering, operational and managerial staff.
  • Provide technical support to operations staff to ensure compliance with the Clean Air Act and other related Federal and State air permitting requirements.
  • Foster communication with the workforce to strengthen the importance of EHS objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company EHS policies and procedures and applicable regulatory agency regulations, standards and guidelines.
  • Address EHS matters by making recommendations based on knowledge of company practices and government regulations; research information needs through corporate personnel, trade or government organizations when required.
  • Offer assistance and act as a resource/mentor to the Air Compliance Specialist position when needed.
