Position: Project Manager-Major Projects (Water), ILS

JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary Purpose

Provide engineering technical development, oversight, project execution, and project management responsibilities in support of a broad range of water facility projects including gathering, conveyance, storage, and distribution. Candidate will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the various Tallgrass commercial and operational groups to support business development and be expected to take a defined business commitment, apply basic engineering analytical concepts, coordinate between multiple entities, and develop a project and engineering/execution plan for the successful completion of a project to meet business objectives.

Work with Tallgrass’s various customers, the public, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate project goals and objectives to advance projects from concept to design/engineering to construction and ultimately through realization of operations.

Education
  • Project Manager - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent from an accredited institution along with a minimum of 8 years of relevant job experience.
Experience/Specific Knowledge
  • Must have 5 years of experience in major project environments with direct work experience in engineering or project management of municipal and/or industrial water projects including transmission, metering, pumping, storage, gathering, processing/treatment, and distribution.
  • Must have full complement of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement procedures, and permitting.
  • Must have executed at least one major capital project with a Total Installed Cost of more than $20 million.
  • Must have very strong analytical skills required to develop concepts while working in partnership with Tallgrass Commercial personnel.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas, proposals, and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers.
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing large projects, and to see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality (as necessary).
  • Must have a general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices, and processes relate to the Water business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers.
  • Must understand basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification.
  • Must have the ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager).
  • Must have solid leadership, communication, motivation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to manage projects that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds, and experience levels.
  • Must have a working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, EPA, and various state counterparts (e.g., DEQ, SEO, etc.).
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Teams, and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses, & Registrations
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills to manage, lead, and direct Tallgrass and third-party personnel.
