CAD Drafting Technician, AutoCAD

Responsibilities

• Perform computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) for a variety of water and wastewater engineering design projects
• Develop civil, mechanical, and electrical layouts, piping and equipment plans, and details for projects
• Work closely with designers and engineers to produce design packages
• Contribute to projects from the conceptual design stage through construction
• Draft, edit, and finalize technical drawings
• Operate a CAD computer using appropriate hardware and software
• Proofread CAD drawings for accuracy, format, and grammar
• Collaborate with other CADD practitioners to prepare design drawings and details

• Associate’s Degree in Drafting; or graduation from an accredited high school and a minimum of one (1) year experience performing CAD drafting work in a professional setting, or equivalent education, experience and training that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Knowledge of engineering basics, including sheet organization, topographical data, scales, and coordinate systems.
• Experience using/incorporating land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files.
• Experience with mechanical design.
• Experience using the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of the latest releases of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Basic understanding of the latest releases of Microsoft Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Skype, Adobe PDF, and Windows File Explorer.
• Strong reasoning, mathematical, and geometrical skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret red line drawings.
• Strong communication skills to include the ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions, and the ability to interact effectively.
