The Senior Applications Engineer develops detailed proposals for complex automation equipment and supports the sales team to present the concepts to customers. The Senior Applications Engineer possesses extensive knowledge and experience of concepting automated equipment, customer base, types of products, and integrated process. This role is critical in supporting Mikron growth and stability by actively helping to secure new projects while ensuring technical and commercial viability of the systems being sold.
Evaluationof Customer Requests for Quote
- Review Specifications
:
Analyze customer specifications, drawings, models, and components to develop an assembly machine concept based on Mikron standard assembly platforms. - Determine Requirements
:
Collaborate with Key Accounts Managers and the Applications Engineering Manager to understand customer requirements and sales strategy. - Design Support
:
Provide product design support to customers to enhance the assembly process.
- Develop Concepts
:
Create detailed automated assembly system concepts. - Consultation
:
Work with internal engineering leads to address design concerns and ensure appropriate concept and pricing. - Produce Layouts and Models
:
Generate AutoCAD 2D layouts and Inventor 3D models to support the sales process. - Third-Party Specifications
:
Obtain specifications and pricing from suppliers through direct contact. - Cost Estimates
:
Prepare detailed project cost estimates to form the basis for the sales price. - Presentations
:
Create technical PowerPoint presentations. - Proposal Documents
:
Prepare proposal documents defining the complete project scope, including technical details, pricing, schedule, and commercial conditions. - Internal Meetings
:
Participate in internal meetings to agree on technical content and pricing.
- Customer Communication
:
Maintain regular communication with customers during the proposal phase. - Collaboration
:
Work with other engineers as necessary. - Present Solutions
:
Present solutions to customers as part of the Sales team. - Sales Calls
:
Accompany Key Account Managers on sales calls to provide detailed automation knowledge.
- Project Handoff
:
Transfer the project to operations staff at the project kickoff meeting. - Consultation
:
Act as a consultant to operations staff during the project phase and gather feedback on quote accuracy for continuous improvement.
- CRM Updates
:
Update CRM (Salesforce) to track customer opportunity information. - Record Maintenance
:
Maintain records of the proposal process, key milestones, and decisions

RequirementsEmployment Qualifications
- Eligibility
:
Must be eligible to work in the United States. - Driver's License
:
Must have a valid state driver's license and be eligible to obtain a passport for international travel.
Professional & Technical Education
- Degree
:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a related field. - Experience
:
Minimum of 2 years' experience in an engineering position with a mechanical focus.
Other Job-Related Experience or Requirements
- Travel
:
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the year as requested and on short notice. - Availability
:
Must be available to work hours necessary to meet deadlines.
