Position: Project Manager-Engineering, Sr.

JOB DESCRIPTION Primary purpose:

Supervise, coordinate and manage multiple construction, repair and maintenance projects. Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, federal, state and local requirements.

Perform activities necessary to manage the development and execution of a broad range of natural gas and hydrocarbon liquid facility projects including high-pressure gas and liquid transmission pipeline, metering, compression, pumps, storage, gathering, treating, and processing.

Work as project team leader to organize and direct efforts of the project team toward meeting team goals. Provide leadership including project planning, scheduling, prioritization of tasks, cost control, coordination with pipeline operations and field forces, and monitoring project progress.

Minimum requirements:

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering is required.
  • Course of study in the discipline of Mechanical, Civil or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
Experience/Specific Knowledge:
  • Minimum of five (5) years' direct work experience in engineering or project management of natural gas or hazardous liquid pipeline or facility projects including high-pressure gas and liquid transmission, metering, compression, pump station, storage, truck loading terminals, gathering, treating, and processing.
  • Must have full complement of project management skills including project scoping and estimating utilizing work breakdown structures, cost and schedule control, design and construction management, team building, resource planning, procurement, and permitting.
  • Must be able to understand the needs of the business unit(s) for which development work is being performed.
  • Must possess basic understanding of midstream and downstream projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including but not limited to the ability to present ideas, proposals and results to business segment leaders and to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, including tracking and managing large projects, and see projects to completion while maintaining strict confidentiality (as necessary).
  • Must possess general understanding of how corporate policies, procedures, practices and processes relate to the Pipeline business segment, associated business units, and internal and external customers.
  • Understanding of basic economic analysis as it pertains to project justification.
  • Ability to identify and establish expectations in an employee/employer relationship (subordinate/manager).
  • Solid leadership, communication, motivation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage projects(s) that will include working with individuals with varying disciplines, backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and agencies such as DOT, OSHA, and various state counterparts.
  • Familiarity with DOT, NEC, ASME, API, and ASTM and other specifications, standards, and recommended practices typical in the natural gas or hazardous liquid transportation industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook.
Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
Competencies, Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to deal effectively with people and resolve conflicts and problems.
  • Must possess well-developed interpersonal skills to manage, lead, and direct Tallgrass and third party personnel.
  • Able to analyze financial and cost data and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to accept direction and work effectively & cooperatively with others.
  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with both company and contract employees.
  • Must be goal-orientated, self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
