Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Environmental Scientist – Site Characterization, Remediation, and Emerging Contaminants to join our Lakewood, Colorado office. This role is well aligned for an experienced scientist and technical leader with a strong background in contaminated site assessment, remediation, and emerging contaminants, including PFAS. The position will support complex environmental investigation and remediation projects for federal, industrial, municipal, public‑sector, and private‑sector clients, including site characterization, groundwater and soil assessment, source evaluation, remedial alternatives evaluations , remedial strategy development, and practical translation of technical findings into defensible site‑management approaches.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for contaminated site assessment, remediation, applied research, fate-and-transport evaluations, and remedial decision support for federal, industrial, municipal, public‑sector, and private‑sector clients, including projects involving PFAS and other emerging contaminants.
  • Lead and support site characterization and remedial alternatives evaluations , including source-area delineation, contaminant distribution, groundwater and soil assessment, migration pathway evaluations, and remedial strategy development for PFAS and non-PFAS contaminants.
  • Develop, refine, and communicate high-resolution and three-dimensional conceptual site models integrating hydrogeologic, geochemical, analytical, statistical, and modeling results to support adaptive investigation strategies and defensible remedial decisions.
  • Plan, coordinate, and technically oversee investigation activities involving soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, porewater, soil stockpiles, vadose-zone media, and other impacted matrices while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, quality, and data defensibility.
  • Prepare, review, and manage technical deliverables, including work plans, quality assurance plans/sampling and analysis plans, conceptual site model products, technical memoranda, treatability evaluations, decision-support materials, proposals, presentations, and regulatory or client briefing materials.
  • Coordinate with clients, federal and state regulatory agencies, installation stakeholders, subcontractors, academic collaborators, technical experts, and internal teams to support regulatory engagement, technical alignment, and successful project delivery.
  • Support proposal development, client development, technical marketing, and research-to-practice initiatives related to contaminated site assessment, remediation, emerging contaminants, treatment, source evaluation, and remedial decision support.
  • Mentor early and mid‑career staff in environmental data analysis, conceptual site model development, technical interpretation, and clear communication of complex scientific results.
