The Colorado State Patrol’s (CSP) Policy and Research (PAR) unit provides administrative policy and research services to the agency’s members and CSP Command Staff. The unit maintains agency‑wide forms, reports, manuals, operational bulletins, and other administrative assignments to meet the needs of the Staff Services Branch while satisfying CALEA accreditation requirements through policy development, Executive Accreditation Report (ExAR) requirements, and organizational goals aligned with best practices.

- Typical work hours:
Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. - Primary work out of an office; majority in‑person position with flexible work arrangements available.
The purpose of this position is to contribute to and satisfy the requirements of the Policy & Research work unit by researching, authoring CALEA‑compliant policies, researching best practices, creating and modifying agency forms and reports, producing operational bulletins and temporary orders, and supporting other administrative assignments required by the Staff Services Branch.
Key Responsibilities- Research and author written directives on a variety of topics affecting the organization.
- Ensure written directives and processes are CALEA compliant and aligned with current best practices, legislative mandates, and regulations.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to present a unified message regarding tactical and strategic directives.
- Manage multiple assignments and deliverables with high priorities; manage time effectively.
- Review current written directives to detect conflicts.
- Write clear and concise directives, guidelines, and rules.
- Develop and modify existing policies to adhere to accreditation standards and law enforcement best practices.
- Present information orally and in professional written work products such as whitepapers, briefing documents, and research papers.
- Proofread and edit documents and presentation materials.
- Ensure alignment of written directives with agency strategic direction and goals.
- Participate in meetings, work groups, or committees to conduct and report on research and development.
