This posting is for both LEAD and GENERAL Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator. In supplemental questions please specify which you are applying. The location includes CBT’s (Grand Lake, Granby Reservoir and Shadow Mountain Reservoir) near Grand Lake, Colorado.
- Lead Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) Inspector:
Provide on-the-job training to inspection staff, create schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours. - Collect and verify accurate timekeeping records for payroll; work with area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers; recommend hiring/firing of employees to area work lead.
- Perform quality control assessments to ensure inspection station staff follow standardized protocols; ensure data entry is accurate and complete; maintain inventory of required supplies; perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
- Early morning, evening, and weekend work is required.
- AQUATIC NUISANCE SPECIES (ANS) INSPECTOR:
Conduct inspections for invasive Zebra/Quagga Mussels, Milfoil or other plant species on boats and personal watercraft at an inspection point on the park; interact with park visitors requiring effective communication and public relations. - Staff the park ANS inspection station; conduct physical boat inspections and boater interviews; provide information and assistance to the boating public (distribute brochures, educate about ANS, educate about State Park regulations).
- Perform cleaning and light maintenance duties of ANS inspection areas; maintain facilities and grounds; accurately count and record all boat inspections (written or via software).
- Receive training in boat inspection and decontamination procedures; conduct physical boat inspections, decontaminations, and boater interviews.
- May document and report visitor complaints; other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work at the ANS station for an 8-hour shift and take lunch at the station.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma.
- Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early morning and late evenings.
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment preferred.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent customer service experience working with the public desired.
- Reliable and timely.
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
