Category Manager - Information Technology; Indirect Procurement

At Terumo Blood and Cell Technologies, you will execute and implement effective procurement and sourcing strategies for the Indirect Procurement IT category, representing approximately $46M in spend. You will develop short‑term and long‑term strategies aligned with company goals for cost reduction and financial expectations, continually improving purchasing practices, consolidating spend, managing supplier performance, mitigating risk, and enhancing visibility.

• Demonstrate deep knowledge of the Technology category and translate that into actionable outcomes for TBCT.
• Develop and execute a well‑documented Technology strategic sourcing plan, including RFIs, RFPs, business requirements, supplier communication, criteria selection, and negotiations in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
• Implement sourcing strategies to improve supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, service levels and risk management.
• Maintain a pipeline of key initiatives to drive savings opportunities.
• Continuously seek ways to streamline business processes and provide industry trend research and best‑practice information.
• Develop negotiation strategies, align stakeholders, lead cross‑functional negotiation teams, and perform direct supplier negotiations.
• Use spend data to identify sourcing projects for sub‑categories and develop an overall plan.
• Manage category performance by meeting internal savings goals and reviewing financial spend.
• Forge close working relationships throughout the company at all levels.
• Drive supplier performance improvements.
• Prepare business cases, including ROI models, and present cost savings proposals to approval parties.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies, legal and financial requirements (e.g., JSOX), and supplier quality reviews.
• Act as consultant to internal partners on procurement processes (strategic sourcing, negotiations, contracting, approvals, etc.).

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and experience sufficient to perform job functions.
• Master’s degree preferred.

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in IT procurement/sourcing category management in a large, multinational company.
• Experience managing IT spend of similar scope and breadth.
• Demonstrated success in leading RFx’s, supplier management, and sourcing categories for indirect spend.
• Proficiency with standard sourcing and category management concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent analytical, financial data interpretation, and solution‑crafting skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of business requirements and category ownership, creating strategic plans with sound analytics.
• Negotiation experience for risk mitigation and value delivery.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in continuous improvement environments.

• Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills at all organizational levels.
• Strong analytical, process, and collaboration skills to resolve business problems.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks independently with strong attention to detail and follow‑up.
• Insightful use of market data, research, and industry benchmarking to optimize supplier value.
• Excellent leadership, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and working knowledge of SAP PR/PO processes.
• Strong organizational and project management abilities.
• Diplomatic, tactful communication while maintaining assertiveness and persistence.
• Team‑player who can also lead projects.

• Preferred: CPSM, CPM, CPP, CPIM, or similar designation (not required).
