Position: FLEX Weekend Schedule - Registered Nurse Home Health Full Time

Overview

Come join our awesome team at Valley Manor Care Center, a part of Volunteers of America National Services. We care for residents in a supportive long‑term care environment. The role includes an hourly pay rate of $37.45–$44.95, plus a $2.25 evening/night differential. Pay periods are 72 hours (Thu–Sat 7 am–7 pm) and 80 hours (Thu, Fri, Sat 6 pm–6 am and every other Sunday 10 p‑6 a).

Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, and carry out shift routines in the assigned nursing unit, observing, directing, and evaluating personnel activities as the “in charge” per the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Assume “Building Charge” responsibilities as directed by the DON or designee.
  • Provide leadership and direction on assigned units, STNAs, TMA’s (if applicable), interdisciplinary team, supervisory and management team, customers, residents, and families.
  • Listen to shift reports and maintain open lines of communication with supervisor, co‑workers, and incoming shift.
  • Make rounds to residents to assess physical and psychosocial status.
  • Assign personnel to meet resident needs and ensure unit personnel complete their assignments.
  • Attend nurses and team meetings as scheduled.
  • Initiate disciplinary action when personnel performance requires it.
  • Report occupational exposures (needle sticks, blood, body fluids, infectious materials, hazardous chemicals) per facility policy.
  • Submit concerns and improvement suggestions to facility leadership, QAA/QAPI committee.
  • Provide resident care, treating residents with respect and dignity, performing nursing techniques for comfort and well‑being.
  • Identify and report suspected abuse or neglect as required.
  • Be drug knowledgeable, monitor resident responses and side effects, and report concerns to physicians.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation per facility policies and procedures.
  • Follow shift routines, monitor vital signs, weights, medication administration, and treatments.
  • Make physician/provider calls to report resident condition changes.
  • Keep resident representatives and families updated on resident conditions.
  • Comply with acute emergency protocols (e.g., 911 calls).
  • Adhere to Advance Directives (DNR/DNI/CPR/Comfort Care).
  • Contribute to completion and updating of resident care plans.
  • Evaluate and report performance of all personnel under supervision.
  • Perform routine charting duties and transcribe physician/provider orders accurately.
  • Document and report incidents, accidents involving residents, visitors, and staff.
  • Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner reflecting care provided and resident response.
  • Utilize E‑Interact COC & Care Paths for change in condition.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and staffing recommendations.
  • Attend required in‑services and complete assigned online modules.
  • Serve on, participate in, and attend facility committees to enhance interdisciplinary processes.
Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado.
  • Experience in long‑term care preferred.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with independent judgment, initiative, and discretion.
  • Customer‑service orientation and knowledge of successful service techniques.
  • Clinical competence in performing physical and cognitive assessments of residents.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic devices for timekeeping, in‑service, and documentation.
  • Understanding of Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention, Infection Control, and OSHA guidelines.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Additional technical or nursing training is an advantage.
