Directory of Women’s and Infants’ Services

The Director of Women’s and Infants’ Services at the University of Colorado Hospital provides visionary and operational leadership for all facets of women’s and infants’ health care. This position manages the clinical, administrative, and financial performance of departments such as Labor & Delivery, OBED, Neonatal Intensive Care and Mother–Baby services. The director is responsible for developing and implementing policies to ensure high‑quality, patient‑centered care in adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all women’s and infants’ health programs and services.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellence in patient care, safety, and satisfaction.
  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate departmental budgets and ensure compliance with allocated funding; coordinate and direct internal/external audits.
  • Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain compliance with all regulations and accreditations.
  • Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluation, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
  • Promote evidence‑based clinical practices and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and physicians to support program growth.
  • Address patient and family needs, ensuring culturally competent and equitable care.
  • Utilize data‑driven strategies to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing. Master’s Degree in Nursing or Administration, or a signed agreement to complete a Master’s Degree in Nursing within an agreed time frame.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in women’s and infants’ health services or related clinical settings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in program development, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in a hospital or large healthcare organization strongly preferred.
Required Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, inspire, and mentor multidisciplinary teams of nurses, physicians, and allied health professionals to achieve departmental goals.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including building collaborative relationships, delivering briefings, and composing comprehensive written reports for clinical and administrative audiences.
  • Skilled in concurrently overseeing multiple clinical initiatives, quality improvement projects, and regulatory deadlines within a high‑volume hospital setting.
  • Extensive experience preparing and monitoring departmental budgets, implementing cost‑saving strategies, and conducting financial analyses to ensure sustainability and compliance.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of women’s and infants’ health services, including familiarity with current clinical protocols, emerging medical technologies, and evidence‑based care practices.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with attending physicians, executive hospital leaders, and external community organizations to advance program growth and address patient needs.
Pay

$144,872 – $231,795 annual base pay. Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience.
