Role Description The Registered Nurse at Rocky Mountain Detox is a full-time, on-site role based in Lakewood, CO. The RN provides direct nursing care to clients undergoing detox, including initial assessments, ongoing physical and mental status evaluations, and administration of medications according to established protocols. Daily responsibilities include monitoring vital signs and withdrawal symptoms, documenting clinical findings, responding to medical emergencies, and coordinating care with physicians and other team members.

The RN educates clients on treatment plans, health risks, and recovery-oriented resources, while maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. The role also involves collaborating with interdisciplinary staff, participating in shift handoffs, and supporting a safe, therapeutic environment for clients and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado;
  Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Clinical experience in detox, behavioral health, medical-surgical, or emergency/urgent care settings, with demonstrated ability to manage withdrawal symptoms and monitor high-risk clients.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills, including the ability to recognize changes in client status and respond appropriately.
• Proficiency in documentation, electronic health records (EHR), and adherence to regulatory and safety standards in a healthcare setting.
• Effective communication and de-escalation skills, with the ability to build rapport, provide trauma-informed, non-judgmental care, and collaborate in an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Ability to work full-time on-site, including possible evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, and to manage physically and emotionally demanding situations.
• Knowledge of substance use disorders, detox protocols, and harm reduction practices; additional training or certification in addiction nursing is a plus.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program; experience in community-based or residential treatment facilities is beneficial.
