This position generally works Monday through Friday, with shift times scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Weekend shifts may be required based on staffing needs, training requirements, or special events. Schedule flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. This position is considered essential personnel which requires being on duty to perform emergency services of the agency without delay and/or interruption and/or rotates shifts.

This position is required to work at the Lakewood and Arvada campuses as needed. You must be willing to accept working at various locations and working varying hours as needed.

This position serves as a work leader and oversees and directs the work of other Police Officers and College Safety and Security Technicians on their shift, including assigning tasks or work, monitoring progress and workflow, checking employee’s work, scheduling work, and establishing work standards. Provides input to the unit supervisor (Sergeant) on leave requests and covering shifts. Document Police Officer I and College Safety and Security Technician activities to assist unit supervisor (Sergeant) in the evaluation process and prepare oral and/or written reports for command staff.

In the absence of the Sergeant, provide supervision of officers and noncommissioned security personnel on duty. Completes tasks assigned by supervisor and department leadership in a timely manner.

This position is expected to conduct vehicle and foot patrol for detection of criminal activity in a college campus venue. The person in this position will respond to calls for service given by communications personnel, investigate and gather evidence at crime scenes, administer basic first aid, establish control of situations, enforce criminal and traffic related laws, restrain persons for arrest, and prepare reports for proper and appropriate documentation.

This position allows the officer to testify in court and make community presentations on safety and crime prevention methods or programs.
