Overview

This position is open to current Colorado residents only. This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies (full time and part time).

Campus At Mount View includes Betty K. Marler Youth Services Center (committed females) and Phoenix Youth Services Center (committed males). Betty K. Marler Youth Services Center is a 30-bed youth center located on the Campus at Mount View, serving committed female youth with a focus on long-term treatment. Phoenix Youth Services Center is a 24-bed youth center located on The Campus at Mount View, serving committed male youth with a focus on long-term treatment.

About the Division of Youth Services (DYS):
The mission is to protect, restore and improve public safety through a continuum of care, effective supervision, accountability to victims and communities, and positive youth development. DYS operates 15 secure facilities serving youth ages 10 to 21, with responsibilities including detention, assessment, commitment, and parole. Swing Shift and Overnight Shift. Front End:
Sunday-Wednesday 11a-9p or 12:30p-10:30p. Front End Overnight:
Sunday-Wednesday 10:15p-8:15a. Back End:
Wednesday-Saturday 11:00am-9:00pm or 12:30pm-10:30pm. Back End Overnight:
Thursday 10:00pm-11:00am;
Friday and Saturday 9:30pm-11:30am. These working arrangements are subject to change.

About the position. This is a direct care/essential role that provides direct and engaging supervision of youth in DYS State Operated Secure Facilities. Specific duties and expectations include Safety/Security, Youth Center Programming, Documentation/Recording and Reporting, Training, and Organizational Accountability. Positions may require overtime on a rotating basis based on business needs.

Duties Include But Are Not Limited To The Following
  • Safety/Security. Provide direct care, safety, security, and supervision of adjudicated and/or pre-adjudicated youth in a secure setting. Monitor and support behavioral management plans, supervise youth, conduct crisis interventions, de-escalation, use of physical response in emergencies, debrief incidents, and conduct searches.
  • Youth Center Programming. Implement and follow the center’s behavioral management program, teach and redirect youth, and support DYS initiatives related to programming and crisis intervention.
  • Documentation/Recording and Reporting. Document youth observations, program responses, and all unit activities in logs and database systems.
  • Organizational Accountability. Promote a healthy, positive cultural climate; adhere to Code of Conduct, DYS compliance standards, and policies; contribute to a trauma-responsive environment.
  • Training. Complete DYS Pre-Service training, center training, and orientation; complete online training and maintain behavioral management strategies; some travel may be required.
  • Other Duties As Assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED. No substitutions. These positions are not sedentary; employees are on their feet, and may need to climb stairs. Applicants must be willing and able to physically intervene with assaultive youth.
