Position: Staff Software Engineer

Staff / Principal Embedded Software Engineer

I'm currently partnering with a leading company in the space industry that is seeking a Staff or Principal Embedded Software Engineer to join its growing engineering team.

This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced aerospace, robotics, and autonomous systems that are helping shape the future of space exploration.

You’ll play a key role in developing highly reliable embedded software for mission-critical platforms operating in demanding environments.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain embedded software for real-time systems
  • Develop software architectures for complex aerospace and robotic applications
  • Implement software on RTOS-based platforms
  • Develop command, telemetry, and control software
  • Integrate software with embedded hardware and subsystems
  • Support system integration, verification, validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Debug and resolve software, timing, and performance issues
  • Collaborate closely with software, systems, hardware, and test teams
  • Contribute to technical roadmaps, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship (Staff/Principal level)
Required Experience
  • Strong embedded software development experience using C/C++
  • Experience working with RTOS environments (VxWorks, FreeRTOS, RTEMS, or similar)
  • Experience developing software for embedded hardware systems
  • Strong understanding of real-time systems concepts, scheduling, interrupts, and memory management
  • Experience with software integration, debugging, and testing
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace, space, robotics, autonomous systems, or defense industry experience
  • Flight software or avionics development
  • Hardware-in-the-loop testing and simulation environments
  • Safety-critical and fault-tolerant software design
  • Experience leading projects or mentoring engineers
