The Role
Responsible for directing the day‑to‑day activities of the dump truck drivers in the asphalt division. Provide management, analytical and administrative support to the paving and plant operations. Calculate the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from mix plant according to capacity of vehicles, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers. Calculate haul rates. Responsible for low‑boy trailers as well.
Coordinate equipment moves to establish timely delivery to required areas of work.
- Ensures timely delivery of Asphalt to job sites by a fleet of dump trucks as well as equipment for same.
- Responsible for directing the day‑to‑day activities of the dump truck drivers and low‑boy trailer drivers.
- Uses Fleet watcher software program to establish daily trucking schedule, adjust schedule, observe and manage trucking performance, help solve logistical bottlenecks/problems, and evaluate/share logistical KPI’s.
- Drives productivity, motivation and morale within the department.
- Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect work situations.
- Motivates employees to highest potential and builds effective teams.
- Promotes positive and cooperative attitudes to ensure company and customer satisfaction.
- Communicates and promotes safety, compliance and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards within production area. Monitors work performed and addresses situations that do not conform to standards.
- Tracks preventative maintenance of trucks and keeps trucks out on repairs to a minimum.
- Reports all safety incidents via Company protocols, and ensures all employees under purview adhere to incident reporting protocols.
- Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent or 3 years of equivalent experience
Additional Education Preferred: Associate's degree
Field of Study Preferred: Logistics/supply chain management or related field.
Required
Work Experience:
Previous supervisory skills preferred. Minimum 3 years industry experience in Asphalt paving, Asphalt production, bulk materials transportation management, or related fields. Minimum of three years of experience supervising employees in an industrial environment or the trucking industry. Commercial Driving License.
- Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
