Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) is partnering with approved NJ EMS training centers to provide an opportunity for individuals looking to enter the healthcare field as an Emergency Medical Technician. Candidates of this role will be paid to attend the program. The cost of tuition and books will be covered. While the program is in session, students will begin their HMH orientation and onboarding.

Upon successful completion of the EMT program and NREMT examination, candidates will commit to a minimum of two years of full-time employment as a non-emergent EMT with Hackensack Meridian Health.

• Attend all training sessions (virtual and in person).
• Complete all assigned coursework.
• Verify skills proficiency by passing the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians examination.
• Interact professionally with peers, patients, leadership, colleagues from other EMS agencies, public safety personnel, and hospital emergency department staff.
• Maintain baseline and continuing knowledge of all applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations concerning emergency medical services, basic life support ambulance service, EMT certification, etc.
• Conduct oneself in a professional and dignified manner at all times, preserving the public's perception of HMH as New Jersey's leading healthcare provider.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

• High School diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent program.

• Valid driver’s license from any U.S. state.

• Physical demands include use of hands for medical procedures, reaching, speaking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/moving up to 100 pounds.
• Work requires frequent exposure to blood‑borne pathogens, airborne particles, fumes, gases, mechanical parts, and outdoor weather conditions.
• Pre‑employment and annual physicals will include immunizations, back screening, and PPD skin test for tuberculosis.

Flat rate of $21.92 hourly.
