Responsibilities
  • Provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in‑home setting for older adults.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements and professional standards.
  • Adhere to department and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work‑related meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences and related meetings.
  • Make referrals to other disciplines, agencies, and professionals to address comprehensive patient needs.
  • Consult with rehabilitation team members, including community physicians, to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with patient needs and capabilities.
  • Adapt program and/or plan of care according to individual patient needs.
  • Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards.
  • Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Maintain and report equipment needs.
  • Place patient service first: ensure highest quality service in a caring, compassionate atmosphere.
  • Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and appropriate tests; synthesize information and interpret findings to establish diagnosis, identify impairments, predict improvement, determine treatment time, identify precautions, and design plan of care.
  • Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patient and caregivers, implement occupational therapy treatment plan, and complete related documentation.
  • Apply therapeutic techniques in areas such as cognitive skills, muscle strength, coordination, endurance, mobility, perceptual abilities, sensory awareness, sitting and standing tolerance, balance, ADLs, joint protection, work simplification, orientation, physical agent modalities, low vision, fall risk management, medication management, health and wellness, community integration and reintegration, and case management skills in the home and community space.
  • Design, fabricate, fit, and/or apply adaptive devices, and train patients in their use, including orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Select activities suited to individual capacity, mental level, and interest.
  • Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for functional activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
  • Perform routine reexamination to modify/progress treatment plan.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Qualifications
    • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
    • Hold initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
    • Hold a valid, unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
    • Have a valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to patients’ residences.
    Compensation

    USD $43.00 – $62.00 per hour.
