Landscape Construction Purchaser

We are seeking an experienced Landscape Construction Purchaser to manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and services needed for landscape construction projects. This role requires strong supplier management, negotiation, organizational, and cost-control skills to ensure materials are purchased accurately, delivered on schedule, and maintained within project budgets.

• Identify and establish relationships with suppliers of plants, irrigation systems, raw materials, equipment, and other construction materials.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and supplier agreements.
• Evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with vendors.

• Prepare and issue purchase orders by verifying specifications, pricing, quantities, and required delivery dates.
• Place orders and track deliveries to ensure materials are available when needed.
• Research alternative or substitute products when appropriate.
• Obtain required approvals for purchases and coordinate procurement activities with project teams.

• Participate in project budgeting and cost analysis.
• Track purchasing costs and quantities to ensure accuracy and alignment with project budgets.
• Enter purchasing information into accounting systems.
• Monitor material usage and account for materials used at job sites.

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment based on project requirements.
• Track equipment and maintain accurate purchasing and usage records.
• Verify receipt of materials and equipment when necessary.

• Review and resolve invoice and purchase order discrepancies.
• Coordinate returns and credit memos with vendors.
• Adjust purchase orders as needed to accurately reflect changes and returns.

• Work closely with project managers, designers, and estimators to understand project requirements.
• Coordinate procurement schedules with project timelines.
• Help ensure materials and services are available to support smooth project execution.

• Several years of experience in landscape construction, purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
• Familiarity with landscape and construction materials, processes, and industry standards.
• Experience sourcing materials and managing supplier relationships.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong understanding of purchasing, purchase orders, inventory, and cost tracking.
• Excellent computer proficiency and ability to work with accounting or purchasing systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, orders, and deadlines effectively.

• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
• Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP)
• APICS or CSCP certification
• Landscape industry certifications
• Construction management or project management certifications
• Lean Six Sigma certification
