Phalanx Logistics Solutions is a national third party logistics provider founded in 2005. We serve manufacturers and shippers across the United States through a disciplined, asset light brokerage model focused on truckload and LTL freight. We operate lean, value accountability, and have built a strong reputation for reliability and long term partnerships. We are debt free, inventory free, and financially conservative.

The Controller is responsible for the financial integrity, reporting accuracy, payroll execution, and cash discipline of Phalanx. This is a hands on leadership role within a lower middle market company. While the Controller will operate at a strategic level, this is also a roll up your sleeves position. The right candidate must be comfortable owning both high level financial oversight and the day to day execution required in a lean, asset light organization.

There is no large accounting department. Ownership, accountability, and attention to detail are essential.

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
• Deliver accurate P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
• Maintain GAAP compliant financials
• Produce monthly leadership reporting package
• Coordinate year end tax filings and CPA relationship

• Administer commissions, bonuses, and incentive compensation
• Ensure payroll tax compliance and filings
• Oversee benefits deductions and 401k coordination
• Maintain accurate employee compensation records

• Maintain weekly cash flow forecast
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and collections
• Oversee accounts payable timing and vendor payments
• Protect working capital in a high volume brokerage model
• Manage banking relationships

• Lead annual budget process
• Maintain rolling 12 month forecast
• Track budget vs actual and identify variances
• Model hiring and growth scenarios

• Establish and maintain internal financial controls
• Document accounting policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
• Strengthen financial systems and process discipline

• Provide margin analysis by customer and service line
• Support pricing and compensation structure analysis
• Participate in leadership planning and quarterly reviews

• Accurate and timely monthly close
• Zero payroll or tax compliance issues
• Predictable cash visibility
• Controlled AR aging
• Reliable financial reporting for leadership decision making

• CPA preferred
• 5 to 10 years experience in small to mid sized private company
• Experience in brokerage, transportation, or professional services preferred
• Strong understanding of cash flow and margin driven businesses
• Detail oriented and disciplined
• High integrity and proactive communicator
• Local to Northeastern Ohio
