$23.67/hr - Substitute Paraeducators - Special Education

$26.30/hr - Substitute Paraeducators that have retired from Clover Park School District

Human Resources Building Administrator

SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT

Under general direction of the building administrator and under specific direction of the classroom teacher. The primary purpose of this job is to assist the teacher with implementation of an educational program for special education students by providing instruction as assigned, behavior management, preparation of classroom materials, and physical care for students. Provide instruction as assigned, behavior management, preparation of student(s) materials, and primary care of students such as lifting, toileting, washing, and appropriate medical intervention and feeding under the direction of a knowledgeable staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Short Term Assignments

- Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or it’s recognized equivalent (GED)
  • Ability and desire to work on a constant basis – minimum 1 time a month
  • Desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, as assignments may change on short notice and may require coverage in various classrooms or grade levels throughout the day.
Long Term Para educator Assignments
  • High school diploma or it’s recognized equivalent (GED) and;
  • Associate’s degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or
  • 72 quarter credits from an accredited institution of higher education; or
  • Passing score on a Washington state recognized assessment (455).
  • Desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Documentation must be provided upon hire.

SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Special Education Resource Program
  • Students may be in a general education classroom or pulled out to a different classroom
  • Students have specially designed instruction that aligns with general education curriculum at student’s instructional
Special Education Preschool
  • For students 3 – 5 years of age in a preschool setting
  • Focus on early learning and development benchmarks
Special Education Functional Academics (FA)
  • Students in grades K-5 who require small group settings
  • Cognitive and adaptive delays
  • Specially designed instruction cannot be met in the general education classroom
Special Education Functional Transition (FT)
  • Students in grades 6 – 12 who require small group settings
  • Cognitive and adaptive delays
  • Specially designed instruction cannot be met in the general education classroom
  • Additional focus on preparing students to transition to further education, employment, independent living
Special Education Life Skills
  • Students in grades k – 12 who require small group settings
  • Significant delays across developmental areas
  • Focus on skills for independent functioning through Life Skills Curriculum
Special Education SUCCESS
  • Students in grades k – 12 who require small group settings
  • Significant emotional and/or behavioral disabilities
  • Focus on behavioral and academic instruction
Special Education 1:1 Para
  • Students in grades k – 12 who require individual support
  • Significant emotional/ behavioral and/or physical disabilities
