II. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Serve as liaison between staff, students, and community to maintain a positive and child-centered school climate, as well as provide administrative support within a culturally diverse environment.
III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Maintain a Positive and Child-Centered School Climate
1. Create and implement an effective system establishing positive relations between parents and the school.
2. Create, facilitate, and implement staff, parent, and student development activities enhancing a positive school climate.
3. Develop and implement a support system for students (e.g., attendance, discipline, support teams, academic success). Work with counselors and community support groups to provide services for students.
4. Assist with the creation and implementation of a school-wide behavior management system for utilization by students while in the hallways, lunchroom, and classrooms; on playgrounds and buses; and when participating in athletics and curricular activities. Responsible for student discipline up to suspension.
B. Provide Administrative Support
1. Demonstrate strong communication skills and work effectively in a highly collaborative setting.
2. Promote shared decision-making and team work.
3. Support and supervise student/family activities during the school day and evenings, as assigned.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's Degree in education.
2. Successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or in a support position.
B. Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
1.
Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral communication.
2.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
3. Demonstrated ability to interact positively with students, staff, parents, and community.
4. Knowledge of developmental characteristics and needs of early adolescents.
5. Knowledge of middle school level philosophy and programs.
6. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for attendance/truancy.
7. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for discipline.
C. Certification and Licenses
1. Washington State Teaching Certification.
V. DESIRABLE QUALIFCATIONS
1. Three (3) to five (5) years successful teaching or educational staff associate experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a school setting.
2. Master's degree in education or related field.
3. Washington State Administrator Credential or demonstrated interest in working towards that credential.
4. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for special education.
VI. WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a regular school building.

Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW

Employees who are anticipated to work 630 hours during the school year (September 1 through August 31) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, long term disability and basic life insurance benefits.
