ECEAP Family Support Specialist PT-4
Under general supervision of the building administrator, provides outreach to families for recruitment and enrollment of eligible children. Provides assistance to families in their efforts to improve the condition and quality of family life. Coordinates all components to facilitate implementation of program goals.
1. Organizes social services, family involvement and mental health components for the ECEAP program at assigned school.
2. Conducts outreach into community served by assigned school. Recruits children and families for the program. Completes initial parent interview and determines program eligibility.
3. Identifies families with social service needs, provides current information on community resources and assists families in working with agencies or community organizations to meet those needs. Serves as advocate or spokesperson for families.
4. Provides counseling or referral, emergency assistance and crisis intervention services. May transport child and family for needed services.
5. Coordinates family volunteer component of program. Facilitates the involvement of parents in the program and maintains records of all volunteer hours.
6. Plans and delivers monthly training sessions for ECEAP families, including parenting skills, child growth and development and other topics as required.
7. Conducts visits and provides home visits and instruction according to work plan requirements, or as needed.
8. Maintains accurate records, including enrollment information, family assessment, health records, referral to outside agencies and follow-up data. Provides reports as required.
9. Provides ECEAP program orientation to parents and families as to their rights and responsibilities in ECEAP; encourages parents to participate in decisions concerning the content and direction of the program.
10. Attends in-service training sessions and staff meetings as scheduled. Participates in staffing (quarterly mental health reviews) for each family.
11. Assists ECEAP Teacher with classroom instruction and other activities such as preparing meals and snacks, as needed.
12. Performs other duties as assigned. The essential functions listed above are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. The position may perform a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
A. Education and Experience
1. A two or four year degree in the field of adult education, human development, human services, public health, health education, nursing, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or a related field from an accredited public or private institution of higher education and a minimum of two years of successful, relevant, documented work experience with adults and/or parents or
2. A two year degree in any field from an accredited public or private institution of higher education, and at least 30 quarter units or the equivalent semester hours in the fields of adult education, human development, human services, social work, nursing, public health, health education, early childhood education, child development or a related field and three years of successful work experience with adults and/or parents.
B. Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of county resources for families and appropriate referral procedures.
2. Ability to effectively communicate with pre-school age children, family members, outside agencies, coworkers and other building staff in a diverse environment.
3. Ability to organize own work and work independently.
4. Ability to understand the school district and its relationship to the community.
5. Ability to lift 20 pounds and push/pull 40 pounds.
6. Access to personal vehicle and proof of insurance.
C. Certification and Licenses
1. Fingerprinting and background check
2. Valid Washington State Driver's License
3. First Aid and CPR Card within three (3) months of hire.
4. Food and Beverage Handler's Card
