Shift: 8:30am - 3:30pm

Under the general direction of the Building Administrator this position provides paraprofessional and support services to the building in the areas of classroom instruction; school office, library, and health room support;
School wide project services; in-school suspension, playground, crossing guard, and lunchroom support. This position works with students from a variety of multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Classroom Instruction Support:
Monitor student activities (i.e., drill, practice, and research) after lessons and instructions have been given by teacher. Administer and monitor tests and other assessment instruments as assigned. Maintain classroom discipline in the absence of the teacher, complete appropriate misconduct forms, and/or report behavior to the teacher or principal. Produce teaching aids and other classroom materials as directed by the teacher.
Collect, assemble, catalog, and distribute resource materials. Distribute and account for textbooks and other miscellaneous equipment. Operate audio-visual equipment. Maintain records, files, and supplies. Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment. Accompany students on field trips. Monitor and guide students during emergency drills. Assist students with course assignments. Take classroom attendance and may collect money. Classroom instruction support may be provided to individuals, small groups or the entire classroom as directed by the teacher.
Monitor students on the playground. Provide lunchroom support and service. Assist students to safely cross streets at crosswalks. - Library Support:
Supervise the library in the absence of the librarian. May supervise students and volunteers in the library. Prepare and issue library cards. Instruct students on how to use the library and materials. Operate and demonstrate audio and visual equipment. Assist in maintaining a neat, clean and orderly library. - Clerical Support:
Prepare and maintain reports, correspondence, order cards, overdue notices, bibliographies, and a variety of forms and materials. Maintain files and records, library materials and instructional pamphlets, student schedules, inventory and equipment lists. Order, receive, and distribute supplies and materials. May collect and account for money received from copy machines and fines. - Student Bus Safety:
Assist students with personal needs and equipment on and off the bus. Assist with management of high-risk students that are severely emotionally disturbed and/or dangerous. May prepare and give intervention or carry out certain medical treatments in times of emergency medical plans. Assist passengers and drivers in evacuating the bus in an emergency. Assist drivers in performance of daily vehicle inspections and interior cleaning of the bus to ensure compliance with State and district regulations.
Instruct students within small group or one to one as assigned by the bus driver. - McKinney Vento, Truancy, Native American Program Support:
Assist the Student Services department with McKinney Vento/Foster youth and their families, providing supports to buildings with BECCA petitions and Community Engagement Boards, Native American students and their families to include events and programs supported by the Student Services office. Provide onsite supervision for the McKinney Vento after school program. - General Duties:
Prepare correspondence and reports. Responsible for maintaining department supplies. Provide daily directions to student assistants and district volunteers. Monitor student activity in the In-School Suspension Center as students work on assignments that have been prepared and given by the classroom teacher. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Model appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information consistent with district ethical guidelines.
Foster and maintain strong productive relationships with district employees, parents, students, and other community members. Work with a variety of people in a positive manner. - Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsEducation and Experience
