Position: Information Technology Specialist (Help Desk)

Pierce Transit is an independent municipal organization dedicated to improving people’s quality of life by providing safe, reliable, innovative, and useful transportation services that are locally based and regionally connected.

We’re looking for a dynamic and talented IT professional to join our team as an Information Technology Specialist. In this role, you’ll be the go‑to expert for providing tier one technical support for servers and computer systems, using your in‑depth knowledge of hardware, software, business applications, and IT procedures.

You’ll troubleshoot user interfaces, browser issues, hardware malfunctions, and support software, keeping technical documentation up to date for desktop management and offering advice on resolving technical issues. This in‑person position involves working directly with our team and users, analyzing hardware and software on site and triaging them per routine procedures. Provide exceptional help‑desk support and help others get their tech back on track.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the first point of contact for IT Service Desk issues, providing hardware/software troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Install, configure, and maintain software and hardware for transportation information and business servers.
  • Maintain end‑user computing device productivity and security with patching, policy deployment, and training.
  • Track deployed devices, enforce software licensing, and order new equipment as needed.
  • Identify gaps in documentation for technical and non‑technical users; create and maintain procedures.
  • Plan, execute, and monitor small to medium IT projects; support larger projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and consistent attendance.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • At least two years of experience providing IT support to end users.
  • Education may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
