Overview
Job Title:
School Bus Driver Evaluator (261333). Reports to General Manager or Regional Training Manager.
Location:
TBD. Job Type: Part-Time;
Non-Exempt;
Internal Position Only.
- Drive and operate a school bus or other location-specific vehicle to provide home-to-school services, field trips, or charter trips on fixed or changing routes.
- Participate in onsite recruiting or job fairs, including assisting in the hiring cycle (application intake, screening, scheduling and conducting interviews, administering physical performance testing, onboarding).
- Conduct and document required evaluations of new and existing drivers, classroom and behind-the-wheel training.
- Maintain driver files following company standards and best practices.
- Support company safety culture through participation in monthly safety meetings.
- Participate in administration of customer safety awareness programs and company-sponsored safety programs.
- Assess employees driving abilities and provide constructive feedback.
- May conduct retraining for drivers when initiated by the Customer Service Center.
- Maintain and conduct driver evaluations following company standards.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal driving regulations; stay updated on changes in driving laws and best practices in driving education.
- Exhibit ethical best practices and integrity; report suspicious or inappropriate behavior to supervisor or manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
$32.05/hr
Qualifications- Must be 21 years of age or as required by state law.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in teaching or transportation is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years as a Commercial Driver License holder.
- Must possess all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
- Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening; safety-sensitive employee subject to random testing.
- No moving violations or chargeable accidents on MVR within a 3-year history.
- Compliance with all applicable company, federal, state, county, district, and contract-specific driver requirements.
- Must meet company driver training standards, evaluator standards, and coaching standards.
- Strong knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; well-developed written and verbal communication; basic math skills.
- Patience and ability to work with employees of varying skill levels.
- Ability to maintain detailed records and manage time effectively.
- Thorough knowledge of company regulations and state and federal laws relating to student transportation.
- Current DOT medical certification;
First Aid certificate if required by state; school bus driver’s certificate for applicable state; CDL with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements. - Computer literacy including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other business applications.
- Ability to coach and mentor employees; foster an environment that values input and feedback.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills for internal customer care.
- 2-3 years of accident-free driving experience with Summit; no confirmed customer complaints; no disciplinary actions; no attendance policy violations.
