Plumbing Instructor; Adjunct Position

HIRING FOR FALL 2026 SEMESTER

Position:
Plumbing Instructor (Part-Time).

Reports to:

Dean of Academics.

The Plumbing Instructor will deliver high‑quality instruction in the Construction/Plumbing certificate program, preparing students for entry into the plumbing profession. Responsibilities include classroom and hands‑on training aligned with industry standards and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). The instructor ensures students develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and safety awareness necessary for successful employment in the plumbing and construction industry.

Teach the following courses:

• PLU 1001 – Piping Skills | Credits: 4
• PLU 1004 – Plumbing Service | Credits: 4
• PLU 1008 – Soldering & Brazing Skills | Credits: 0.5
• PLU 1030 – Basic Waste and Vent | Credits: 4
• PLU 1050 – Code & Piping Calculations | Credits: 2
• PLU 2007 – International Plumbing Code | Credits: 4

Other duties may include:

• Assist in program development and other division tasks as assigned by the Dean of Academics.
• Participate in curriculum development and program/course evaluation and assessment.
• Perform related plumbing discipline duties and participate in professional development activities.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter.
• Use effective teaching/learning strategies.
• Collaborate with department members and Dean of Academic Services to maintain quality instruction.
• Work day, evening, or weekend courses as required.

• AAS Degree or higher in Plumbing Technology or related field, and relevant certifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Colorado Postsecondary CTE credential.

• Plumbing Journeyman License.
• Plumbing Masters License.
• Comfortable teaching in a trades program.
• Demonstrated commitment to serving all students.
• Strong understanding of plumbing materials, methods, and the International Plumbing Code.
• Knowledge of plumbing supply, waste, vent, and fuel gas systems.

• Experience working in diverse communities and supporting underrepresented student populations.
• Teaching experience at secondary, post‑secondary, or adult education settings with plumbing concepts.
• Experience using educational software and technology in curriculum development and delivery.

• Work from campus and offsite with construction trades program.
• Expertise in plumbing concepts, processes, blueprint reading, fuel gas systems, safety, piping, waste, vent, soldering, brazing, IPC, and code calculations.
• Physical ability to transport materials, equipment, and instruments up to 60 pounds.

Starting at $710 per credit hour. Compensation is calculated per credit hour for the 15‑week semester. The position is part‑time (.75 FTE) and does not qualify for the Colorado Community College System benefit package.
