Job Description
Lamar Christian Church is seeking a Student Ministry/Youth Pastor. This ministry is about directing with passion and reaching young people and discipling them to become mature, devoted followers of Christ who will keep following Him after graduation. It will require ministry programing, but even more developing relationships with the youth that encourage and challenge them in their faith.
The youth minister will work with staff, volunteers and elders in order to build a healthy youth ministry. We believe in team ministry as we build God’s Kingdom in our area of influence. The youth minister will be accountable to the Senior Minister and the elders of the church. Be open to advice, oversight, direction, encouragement and support from us.
This is a full time position in Southeast Colorado. Our church averages around 250 with 40-50 kids involved in Middle / High School.
Responsibilities- Lead consistent, intentional meetings with Youth leadership teams.
- Measurable Standards:
- Youth Adult Leaders:
- Meet at least once per month with adult youth leaders.
- Vision and spiritual encouragement.
- Planning and coordination.
- Feedback and alignment.
- Measurement:
- Meeting dates documented.
- Brief meeting summaries provided to the lead pastor.
- Meet at least once per month with adult youth leaders.
- Youth Adult Leaders:
- These meetings need to involve other adult leaders and youth and should include a Bible based lesson and discussion groups. Other elements are optional.
- Measurable Standards:
- Track youth attendance monthly.
- Develop and implement at least two intentional engagement strategies, such as:
- Personal follow-up with absent students.
- Improved program structure.
- Youth leadership involvement.
- Relationship-building initiatives.
- Measurement:
- Attendance tracking.
- Written summary of strategies and outcomes.
- Support Provided:
- Brainstorming and strategy support with adult leaders and staff.
- Expectation:
- Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive communication with parents and ministry team members.
- Measurable Standards:
- Parents:
- Send at least one monthly communication (email or equivalent) outlining:
- Upcoming youth events.
- Spiritual focus.
- Key updates.
- Send at least one monthly communication (email or equivalent) outlining:
- Team Members:
- Regular communication regarding schedules, expectations, and changes.
- Timely responses to emails/messages (generally within 24-48 hours).
- Parents:
- Be willing to teach either of those classes as needed.
