Job Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current CPR (BLS) certification required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and ACLS required within one year of employment
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery or Obstetrics nursing required (4 years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care (maternal-newborn nursing)
- Experience with fetal monitoring, C-section support, inductions, and newborn care preferred
- Ability to perform effectively in high-stress situations and communicate clearly with patients and care teams
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods; may be exposed to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases
- Provide direct patient care to women in labor, through delivery, postpartum, and to newborns (maternal and newborn nursing)
- Perform nursing assessments, monitor labor progress, and prepare for C-sections and inductions
- Administer IV medications, assist with pain management, and follow infection control protocols
- Support neonatal care immediately after delivery and collaborate on newborn assessments and resuscitation when needed
- Document nursing care accurately and thoroughly in the medical record (EMR/charting)
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn safety
- Prepare delivery rooms, provide emotional support, and coordinate patient transfers with the healthcare team
- Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, pediatric providers, and interdisciplinary staff to ensure high-quality maternal and newborn outcomes
