The Community – Lamar The City of Lamar is in Prowers County, Colorado. The city population was 7,804 at the 2010 United States Census. The city was named after Confederate slaveholder Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar II during the period that he was Secretary of the Interior in the futile hope that the then town would be named as the land office.

Lamar was founded on May 24, 1886 by Issac Holmes. It was named after Lucius Lamar. At the time Lamar was the Secretary of the Interior, but previously he had written the Mississippi Ordinance of Secession, served the Confederacy as an officer and a diplomat, owned slaves, and vigorously opposed African-American voting rights. The first town elections were held in December, and

C. M. Morrison became the town's first mayor. In 1889 Prowers County was established, and Lamar was elected to house the county's government. Throughout its history, Lamar has suffered from fires and floods. The town was also greatly affected by the Dust Bowl, and as such participated in projects led by the Civil Works Administration, Federal Emergency Relief Administration, and the Works Progress Administration.

The northern site of the Pierre Auger Observatory of ultra-high energy cosmic rays is planned to be built near Lamar.

• Obtain patient history and patient family history
• Perform quality control checks and operator maintenance for a variety of patient care equipment
• Assist in identifying patient needs and implementing the plan of care
• Document care given and patient response in the medical record
• Prepare patient for physical examination
• Communicate pertinent patient data to the appropriate provider
• Possess knowledge of actions and usual dosages of most commonly used emergency drugs and their location
• Recognize emergency situations and initiate appropriate resuscitative measures
• Carry out prescribed nurse initiated, nurse practitioner, and physician orders and document in patient medical record
• Assist in patient/family education regarding prescribed medications/therapies/diagnostic procedures
• Assess patient/family knowledge level, implement plan of instructions and record patient/family demonstrated level of understanding
• Assure content and correctness of a prepared report and sign document to validate its content
• Participate in monitoring quality of care according to processional standards and established procedures
• Respond to telephone inquiries regarding ward services and/or follow-up ancillary reports
• Assist with ward related administrative tasks
• Administer oxygen, intravenous fluids and prescribed medications in accordance with VA policy
• Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity, race, gender, and other individual differences in the workforce, in the Veteran population, and in the Community
• Other duties as assigned

• Possesses a valid, current license (with no limitations, stipulations, or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as an LPN
• Licensed to practice in the State of Colorado.
• Has been actively practicing as an LPN for at least one year within the past three years.
• Is capable of providing nursing care for adult medical and surgical patient.
• Has and maintains current BCLS certification.
• Has documented training and skills verification.
• At least 1 year of experience in primary care/ambulatory care.
